FLX Networks

Where asset managers, wealth firms and advisers do due diligence in one place instead of over email

Industry: Asset and wealth management, USA

Engagement: ongoing

 The problem

Picking a fund manager used to be a six week email thread

When a wealth firm considers adding an asset manager’s fund to its platform, it runs due diligence: questionnaires, documents, calls, sign offs. Traditionally that is spreadsheets, PDFs and email chains, repeated for every manager and every firm, with no shared record of where things
stand.

FLX Networks puts the three sides on one platform. Asset managers publish their products and answer diligence once. Wealth firms run a structured review with a status for every step Advisers browse what their firm has approved and engage with managers directly. Everyone sees only what their role allows, and every action is logged.

Webatlas Technologies the platform, working with the FLX team on Financial data means the security bar is high, so that is where the story starts.

What made it hard

Three user types, sensitive data, and a regulator watching

Wealth management has strict rules about who may see what, and every decision has to be traceable after the fact. Add three different user types with different needs and you get a platform where getting permissions wrong is a compliance problem, not a bug.

Business challenges

What the three sides were living with:

Webatlas icon image082

Technical Challenges

What we had to solve in the code:

How it works

Five parts, from permissions up

Permissions first, because everything else depends on who may see what. Then the three workflows, then the reporting on top.
Webatlas icon image044

Due diligence as a tracked process

A firm’s review becomes a sequence of steps with an owner and a status. Questionnaires are answered once by the manager and reused. Missing items and overdue steps trigger reminders. Every answer and sign off is dated and kept.

Webatlas icon image043

Advisers and managers talk in one place

Advisers see the managers and products their firm has approved, and can message, request materials and book time inside the platform.
Managers see engagement across firms without chasing individual inboxes.

Webatlas icon image042

A marketplace of approved products

Managers list products with documents and performance data. Firms approve what their advisers may see. Advisers browse a catalogue
that is already filtered to what they are allowed to use.

Webatlas icon image041

Roles that match the industry

Asset manager, wealth firm, adviser and platform admin each get a scoped view. A manager cannot
see another manager’s diligence; an adviser cannot see products the firm has not approved. Every access is logged.

Webatlas icon image046

Reports for each side

Firms see review pipeline and turnaround. Managers see engagement and where they stand
in each firm’s process. Admins see platform health.Reports export for compliance files.

Problems on the way

Five things that were hard, and what we did

In plain terms, with what happened.
Webatlas icon image037

Security that would survive an audit

Webatlas icon image074

Solution

Encryption in transit and at rest, role based access on every query, and an access log that records who saw what and when.

Webatlas icon image075

Result

No unauthorised access incidents to date.

Webatlas icon image043

Three workflows, one data model

Webatlas icon image074

Solution

Designed one shared model for managers, products, firms and advisers, with each workflow reading and writing through the same API.

Webatlas icon image075

Result

A manager's answer in due diligence shows up in the marketplace and in the adviser view without being re entered.

Webatlas icon image038

Reports slowed as data grew

Webatlas icon image074

Solution

Added indexes for the real query patterns, cached the heaviest dashboards, and moved documents to object storage.

Webatlas icon image075

Result

Efficient processing and retrieval of large datasets with significantly improved speed.

Webatlas icon image039

Handling growth without downtime

Webatlas icon image074

Solution

Containerised the services and put them behind auto scaling and load balancing on Kubernetes.

Webatlas icon image075

Result

New firms and managers onboard without infrastructure changes.

Webatlas icon image040

Keeping partner integrations alive

Webatlas icon image074

Solution

Wrapped each third party financial integration with monitoring and clear failure alerts.

Webatlas icon image075

Result

A partner API change shows up as an alert the same day, not as a support ticket a week later.

I approached Sunil to assist me with a specific part of a project. His quick understanding of the project and clear technical skill and proficiency resulted in his involvement growing into a lead role. Will definitely be working with again in the future.

Rajvjay and his team delivered exactly what they promised on time and within budget. They handled every requirement with great care, and I have to say, they're true masters of process. I actually learned a lot about Agile practices and tools like Jira and Trello from them. I'd highly recommend this team to anyone who values a structured, process-driven approach for smooth and efficient project delivery.

The RAPROD team sincerely appreciates the work delivered during the development phase. The contractor played an important role in building the core platform and helping establish a stable functional foundation with the current feature set. Their responsiveness, technical capability, and ability to execute on requirements contributed meaningfully to the project’s progress.

Mitesh Shetty

Founders and CEO

My second engagement with the WebAtlas team was just as great as the first. I handed off a very large codebase to them to take over from a previous developer, which was in a broken state, and they were able to effectively piece it back together, get it running again, and add new capabilities. I highly recommend the team, they are professional and easy to work with. They were flexible and responsive.
