The seven steps, in plain English
Free call and discovery
You explain the problem, who it is for and what success looks like. We ask the awkward questions early, including whether you should build this at all. You get: a one page summary and a rough size and cost. Takes: one call, sometimes two.
Plan, price and timeline
We turn the call into a written proposal: what we build, in what order, who is on the team, what it costs and when each piece lands. You mark it up, we revise, you sign. You get: a scope you can hold us to. Takes: 3 to 5 days.
Design every screen first
Before any code, you get clickable screens in Figma. You tap through the app as your customer would and tell us what feels wrong. Changing a screen now costs minutes, not days. You get: approved designs. Takes: 1 to 3 weeks.
Build in two week sprints
We build in two week chunks. Every Friday you see new screens working on a test link. Every two weeks something is finished and usable, in a GitHub account you own. You get: a product to test early. Takes: most of the project.
Test before you see it
A dedicated tester checks every feature on real phones and browsers before it reaches you. Speed, security and edge cases too. You get: a bug list you can watch shrink. Takes: every sprint, plus a final week.
Launch
We set up hosting, domain, app store listings and monitoring, in accounts you own. We launch quietly first, check it with real traffic, then go public. You get: a live product, every login, a one page runbook. Takes: 2 to 5 days.
Stay and improve
Launch is the start. We watch the system, fix what breaks, apply updates and add features as you grow, on a monthly plan or per request. You get: a named person who knows your code. Takes: as long as you need.
One project, all seven steps
How Rose POS went through this, including the part that went wrong
Rose POS is a restaurant point of sale. Here is how the seven steps played out, with the real dates, so you can see what the process looks like when it meets reality.
Free call and discovery. The client needed a POS that keeps working when the restaurant’s internet drops, takes card payments, and can run several locations from one place. We told them that offline was the hard part and would drive every other decision.
Plan, price and timeline. Written
scope, two developers named, Jira board opened in the client’s name. 103 user stories across 12 areas, so nothing was vague
Design Terminal screens and the owner’s admin panel designed and clicked through before code. We benchmarked against Toast, Square and Clover so the client got screens their staff would recognise.
Build Two week sprints, Friday demos. Card payments through Worldpay were finished on the back end early, so the client could see real transactions on a test link.
Midway through, the first database design turned out to be the wrong shape for true offline use. Instead of patching it, we told the client, showed the trade-offs, and rebuilt to one database per restaurant group with a small local server in each location. It cost and we ate . The client heard about it the same week, not at the end.
Test. Every screen tested on real terminal hardware, with the internet cable pulled out midorder, because that is what happens in a real restaurant.
